Style name: Blue Marble.ttkgp
Description: Map Background for SWIFT WX based on the enhanced photographic imagery of Earth developed by NASA.

I am considering using this as the default background map in the next update to Swift. Feedback appreciated.

Yeah, I figured since we now have some canadian users it would make sense to expand the background map to include all of north america.

Maybe someday, the world! Moohahahahahah!

Great idea! Very nice. Couple quick observations:

I use SWIFT on a laptop, now running Vista. I had to increase the maps brightness for daytime use. (increased gamma on R-G) Also it seems to pixelate more at high magnification such as used with local RADARs. Other then that, it's beautiful!

Rory,

Can we get a color relief map like this one. And maybe for all the default maps?

I like it a lot.

Hmmm, maybe someday we'll have SwiftWx v 5.0 with live sat photos with our GPS positioning on it.

Heck yeah, we could use it to zoom all the way in to see our own chase vehicles! lol

Ok, ok... so I'm dreaming a bit, but you can't blame me for wishing!

73's,
Fred

Yes, SwiftWx v2.7 does have sat photos, but not cool looking ones like the Blue Marble background shown above.

I'm just dreaming of having super cool live sat downloads like they have in the spy movies or on the show "24". (Zoom in on this sector Chloe, follow that vehicle)

2.7 does have sat images, but "we" can't control them. We're subject to when they update and such.

73's,
Fred

I love the map, please do use it for sure on the next update. Also, I was wondering if you could get access to the Mexican radars on this web site? http://smn.cna.gob.mx/
